Today, Xiaomi surprised the media with a full-sized maze filled with tidbits about the new device, the Mi 8 Lite. The event had us hunt around the maze with Mi 8 Lite as the main prize for the event. The phone is one of the latest from Xiaomi, with a focus on affordability with good looks. Who said an affordable needs to be cheap-looking?

First up, the design of the Mi 8 Lite is mesmerising, thanks to the gradient finish that is prominent on the Aurora Blue colour variant. It does have a notch, fitting for a 2018 device, but it is topped with a massive 6.26-inch Full HD+ display, with a 19:9 aspect ratio, dubbed as Full Screen Display. The phone is only 7.5mm thick as well, making it a slim device to easily slip into your pockets without much issues.

While it is an affordable device, it does come with a decently specced Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor with a two configurations of 4GB RAM + 64GB internal storage or 6GB of RAM with 128GB of internal storage. Of course you can upgrade the storage with a microSD card of up to 256GB microSD. It is also then powered with a 3,350mAh battery, utilising USB Type-C to charge the device, allowing you to quickly charge your device.

To unlock the device, you can use the rear fingerprint sensor or AI Face Unlock with its 24-megapixel front camera. Your selfies will be bright and colourful even in low-light conditions. The front camera is even equipped with AI features such as bokeh effect and AI makeup option that’ll apply retouches to your face to give the #wokeuplikethis feel. As for the rear cameras, it does have a dual camera setup with 12-megapixel + 5-megapixel camera that can also utilise AI features to make your shots better.

As mentioned, the Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite comes in two configurations of 4GB + 64GB storage and 6GB + 128GB storage and they are priced at RM 999 and RM1,299 respectively. These devices along with other Xiaomi products can be purchased from authorised Mi Stores and comes in Aurora Blue and Midnight Black. It is worth noting that the 4GB variant can also be purchased from Xiaomi’s official Lazada Flagship Store.
