The West Wind Blows

Nothing is better than being able to carry around your gaming rig and game with your friends till the break of dawn, and that’s something a lot of people are missing out on these days. LAN parties are a rarity nowadays due to the ease of online gaming, but at the same time we have lost the camaraderie and connections we build when having LAN parties. But not all is lost, as gaming rigs and laptops are getting much more portable these days.

Enter the ROG Zephyrus M, which takes after its bigger brother – the Zephyrus. The Zephyrus M is a powerful gaming machine that’ll let you play the latest games, even on-the-go. Sporting the latest eighth generation Intel Core i7-8750H processor and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB, the Zephyrus is no joke. The most popular games like Overwatch, DotA 2, and LoL run effortlessly in 1080p, with fluid and stutter-free gameplay throughout our tests and gaming sessions. But during long gaming sessions, cooling tends to become a concern.

That’s where ASUS comes in with its Active Aerodynamic System (AAS). ASUS cleverly places the AAS to reveal itself when opening the lid and opens up to a 9mm-high air chamber. We won’t get too much into the details of how AAS works, but at the end of the day it does its job at keeping the laptop nice and cool. Two anti-dust fans are also used so dust won’t build up over time and cause your laptop to overheat. Something you don’t see often on a slim gaming laptop would be the 144Hz IPS display with a 3ms response time.

ASUS takes it further by providing G-SYNC technology to increase fluidity of graphics during gameplay. The Zephyrus M also comes with an Aura Sync capable keyboard that has customisable RGB LEDs, to help sync up with your Aura Sync-enabled accessories like the ROG STRIX Fusion 500. The keyboard is rated to have N-Key rollover and up to 20 million key presses for its lifespan.

CHIP CONCLUDE: You can’t go wrong with the Zephyrus M, if you’re looking for a portable gaming laptop that provides both portability and gaming performance at a high level.
